About H.Upmann
Flavour profile: Light to medium
Herman Upmann, a German banker with a profound love for Cuban cigars, moved to Havana in 1844, establishing himself as both a banker and cigar maker. Despite the closure of his bank in the early 1920s, his cigars persist as a fine example of an elegant, light to medium-flavored Havana.
Furthermore, the brand holds special significance in the UK, as Hunters & Frankau has represented H. Upmann since the 1850s. Notably, between 1925 and 1937, they owned the factory in Havana along with the worldwide brand rights.
Among the well-known H. Upmann sizes are the Magnum 46, Magnum 50, and Magnum 54. As the name implies, Magnums feature substantial girths, with the number representing the ring gauge of each size. Additional noteworthy sizes include the Sir Winston, the Connoisseur No.1, and in smaller vitolas, the Corona J and Half Corona, introduced in 2011.
Notably, H. Upmann’s blend consists exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone. All sizes adhere to the ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ standard, signifying long filler and entirely handmade craftsmanship.
