About Savinelli Pipes

The Savinelli story began in 1876 when Achille Savinelli Sr. opened one of the world’s first stores exclusively selling smoking articles in Milan. Over time, it became a hub for passionate smokers to exchange ideas. Achille Sr. started designing pipes, later showcased at the Italian Industrial Exposition in 1881. His son Carlo took over in 1890, fostering strong client relationships. Achille Jr., born in 1918, learned pipe making during World War II. After the war, he founded Savinelli’s own pipe production, driven by a desire to match foreign quality with Italian craftsmanship. With the help of friends, he opened the Savinelli factory in 1948, producing pipes of superior quality. Despite initial skepticism, Savinelli pipes gained global acclaim, setting a new standard. Achille Jr.’s dedication to quality and design laid the foundation for the company’s success. Today, Giancarlo, the great-grandson of the founder, leads Savinelli, balancing tradition with innovation, ensuring its legacy endures into the future.
