In the mid-19th Century, Don Manuel López of Juan Valle & Co founded Punch, one of the oldest Havana brands, with a focus on the burgeoning British market; a market where a popular humorous magazine shared the same name.

Notably, every box of Punch cigars continues to feature a contented Mr. Punch, the clown personifying the magazine. He is depicted holding a cigar and is surrounded by 19th Century images of cigar making that have remained virtually unchanged for over a century and a half.

Transitioning to 1931, Punch became associated with Hoyo de Monterrey. Since then, both brands have been consistently produced at the same factory—now recognized as La Corona.

Highlighting the brand’s distinct medium flavor, Punch crafts its cigars using a blend of filler and binder tobaccos sourced from the Vuelta Abajo zone. Importantly, all sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.
