About Cohiba

• Habanos S.A. established Cohiba as its flagship brand in 1966, dedicating it to the late President of Cuba, Fidel Castro. The renowned El Laguito factory, initially a top-secret facility, produced Cohiba cigars. Originally reserved as gifts for heads of state and diplomats abroad. Subsequently, Cohiba became available to the public in limited quantities in 1982.
• Furthermore, “Cohiba” is a Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba – the earliest known form of the cigar.
• Cohiba selects the leaves for rolling its vitolas from the “selection of the selection,” sourced from the five finest plantations in the San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone, widely recognized as the world’s finest tobacco-growing land.
• Cohiba uniquely ferments up to three of its filler leaves – the seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo (exclusively utilized in the Behike range) – in barrels, enhancing the blend’s smoothness.
• All sizes of Cohiba are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.
• Cohiba encompasses four different Líneas, or Lines.
