The Finish
The County pipe is stained a light brown colour to enhance the sandbalsted finish. This lighter stain really brings out the grain of the sandblasted pipe. The mouthpieces are a contrasting colour often know as Cumberland or brindle stems. When a pipe is sandblasted it is really in the hands of the gods as to how the grain of the briar will come through. This is what makes a sandblasted pipe so superior to a rusticated briar, the end result is down to nature. The advantage of a sandblasted pipe is that you get a much bigger surface area which will quickly disperse the heat giving you a cooler smoke.

About Dunhill White Spot Pipes
In 1907, Alfred Dunhill inaugurated his tobacconist shop on Duke Street, initially sourcing pipes from independent pipe makers. By 1910, he established his own workshop near the shop. Around 1912, Dunhill introduced the ivory White Spot to the mouthpiece, aiding both staff and clients in correctly positioning the hand-cut mouthpiece on the Dunhill pipe. This emblem soon evolved into a universally recognized symbol for all Dunhill products and secured international trademark status.
Dunhill pipes are renowned as some of the finest globally, earning them the moniker “the Rolls Royce of Pipes.” Crafted from flawless briar, these pipes undergo expert craftsmanship, ensuring an absence of pits, fills, or flaws. Coveted by collectors worldwide, Dunhill Pipes are highly sought after.
In Europe, James Barber boasts arguably the largest and finest selection of Alfred Dunhill pipes, with over 500 available for purchase. Personally curated by James through frequent visits to the Dunhill pipe factory, each pipe reflects a commitment to quality and excellence.
Dunhill pipes are often considered collectibles. The brand’s long history, commitment to quality, and limited production runs contribute to the desirability of their pipes among collectors.
Dunhill pipes are often graded based on the quality of the wood, craftsmanship, and other factors. Higher-grade pipes may have exceptional grain patterns and meticulous finishing.
